Teaching Financial Literacy Skills to Youth

Why FInancial Literacy?

Financial literacy is a topic that is often overlooked and that can have negative long-term implications. The Young Investor Program Canada provides a platform to educate youth on the topic of financial literacy and investing for their futures.

[The program] clarified many topics recently learned in my finance class! It was well organized and I am really enjoying the program so far!
— Roi Levy, YIP 2017
The panelists were so inspiring and had a lot of great advice to share, the venue was gorgeous, refreshments were excellent, and all of YIP’s executive team’s hard work shined through.

Young Investor Program Canada traces its roots to Light up a Future 2013 where participants were challenged to “Innovate, Create, and Educate”.

Akaash and Rohit Bali, now Commerce graduates of the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia, impressed the judges by pitching a program which would ultimately become Young Investor Program Canada. With their success, they obtained valuable seed funding to launch the program.

Now entering its third year, Young Investor Program Canada has impacted the lives of over 250 secondary school students across Canada. In April of 2015, Young Investor Program Canada was awarded the Nova Star Award which recognizes organizations that execute their visions in a creative and unique way.

We are slated to grow even bigger in the upcoming 2019 year, with more excitement to come. Join us as we strive to establish the next generation of this city and country’s financial leaders!

Our vision

We are determined to educate students on the importance of financial literacy and help them create a strong foundation to make sound financial decisions in the future. We believe in the importance of financial literacy as a powerful tool that enables our students to become knowledgeable, global citizens.

We seek to expand to various cities across Canada throughout the next few years and create a national platform for financial literacy education.
